6 things you may not know about me

Hi everyone! I thought I would do something a little different on the blog today and share 6 things you might not know about me. I’ve seen some other artists do something similar, and I always love reading these types of posts. It's great getting to know the other artists that I follow, and I'd love you to get to know a little more about me!

So here we go, some surprising things you may (or may not!) know about me:

1.

I was born in the small town of Emsdale, Ontario where I lived until I was 9 years old. My mom, sister and I then moved all the way across Canada to Fort St John, British Columbia where I lived until I was 20 years old.

2.

I spent my last year of high school living in Belgium as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. I learned a little bit of Dutch, made some great friends, and traveled around Western Europe that year. Needless to say this enforced my love of travel and culture, and I wouldn't be where I am today without going overseas on my own at 16 years old (hello independence!).

3.

I'm a bit of a crazy plant lady. I have eight plants in my art studio at the moment, with half a dozen more scattered around the house. My absolute favourite is my Australian Umbrella Tree, which is quite small at the moment but will eventually grow into a huge tree!

4.

My absolute favourite book series is hands down Harry Potter. I still have my first copies of each book and some of them are looking extremely battered (I've re-read The Order of the Phoenix at least 23 times and I'm not exaggerating.) I've just started re-listening to the series with Audible (it's the first time in 9 years that I've read the books!) and I cannot believe how good they are - the books truly put the movies to shame.

5.

I'm an absolute numbers nerd. Math was my favourite subject in school and I love anything to do with money, patterns, and problem solving. I'm sure in another life I would have been an accountant or financial adviser.

6.

I avoid cooking whenever I can. To me, if it takes longer to cook something than it takes to eat it it's just not worth it. I mean, I can cook (I make a mean vegetarian taco!) but Josh is a chef so he does most of the cooking at home and I jsust freeze the leftovers for when he's not home!

And that's me! Was there anything on that list that surprised you?
