the studio
71 Gilbert Street, Latrobe Tasmania
It can be quite lonely, being an artist. With the added effect of starting my art career right at the beginning of a pandemic, it felt that loneliness twofold. And then I was walking along Gilbert Street to check out a new pub that had opened up, and there was a “for lease” sign in the window of this quaint (quite ramshackle) little shop. It was one of those things - I was at home working on my own every day, I might as well create my work where other people can see the process.
It took a couple of weeks - a good lick of paint on the inside and out, laying new floating floorboards, organising electricity and insurance and all the boring stuff that goes along with it. There was a lot of anxiety, a few tears, and one panic attack that this was the dumbest idea I had ever had and it would never work - who would want to visit my little studio anyways?
Well, the studio opened in the middle of August 2023 and it was single handedly one of the best decisions I have ever made.
In the picturesque town of Latrobe on the North West Coast of Tasmania, my gallery and working art studio is situated in a gorgeous, heritage listed building originally built in the late 1800’s. Brimming in history with all of the original fixtures and 12 foot high ceilings, it made the perfect studio space to display my work to the public.
Here, you’ll find a curated gallery showcasing my original coloured pencil artworks, alongside limited edition prints, stickers, greeting cards, and unique giftware. My studio is open to the public, offering you a chance to step into my creative world and witness the meticulous process that brings my pieces to life. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a curious passerby, or someone seeking a special gift, there’s something here for everyone.
My space is constantly evolving, with new original artworks on the walls, new displays time you visit, and there’s always a new coloured pencil piece on the go on my work table.
